Today (February 27, 2008) is a busy snowy day and we can't see the stars right now. In Hokudai/Cast 52, however, we are going to talk about stars in Word/Play and deal with a lot of water in After the Flood by Manzi - the lead guitarist for Manzi is a Hokuriku University sophomore (二年生) but in April he will be a junior (三年生).

The words for today's Word/Play are star words - astro (stars) nomy (speak about) naut (sailor), logy (laws about):
- astronomy - the study of the stars
- astronaut - someone who travels to the stars
- astronomer - someone who studies the stars
- astrology - the study of the stars to try to predict the future
- astrologist - someone who studies the stars to try to predict the future
By the way, astrologists are very bad at predicting the future. "Predict" means 'say' (dict) 'before' (pre) something happens. i.e. say something about the future before it happens. We met 'UnPreDictAble' in Hokudai/Cast 41. Check it out again (it has other words, too).
