Hokudai/Cast 56 has only Two Things today! Two! A Word/Play using the prefixes 'a' and 'im' and a very good song by Seattle Standard Cafe called "You and Me."

Next week students will be pouring into Hokuriku University to begin their university life. Others will be coming back to see friends they haven't seen since January. It will be a very exciting time next week ... And the week after that when classes begin!

The first day of school is always an exciting and a nervous time. Imagine how exciting and nervous you would be if your first day of school was in a different country! Hokuriku University has students from all over: from Mongolia, China, Japan, Russia, and the United States. And many Hokuriku University students go to Australia, New Zealand, England, China, and the US to study. Very exciting.

About today's Word/Play: what does the prefix 'a' mean? It is used in words like 'atheist' and 'amoral.' What does the prefix 'im' mean? It is used in words like 'impossible,' 'improper' and 'immaterial.' Listen to the podcast and find out.
